Rainy Days

In the unlikely event!

Nobody likes to think about planning indoor activities throughout the summer but unfortunately when living in the UK it is necessary.

Here are 5 activities you and your little ones can do inside when the weather is not cooperating!

FYI – Use Travel South Yorkshire for up to date travel news on the go! – https://www.travelsouthyorkshire.com/

1.Jump Inc

Jump Inc is located across from Meadowhall Shopping Centre and is perfect for children of all ages. The 24,000 square foot space is jampacked with trampolines, air bags and a jump tower to keep the kids occupied during your time there.

The trampoline park is watched by workers at all times, so you can relax and watch from a distance knowing everyone is safe! There is also a cafe that sells refreshments but if that’s not enough you can always nip to Meadowhall to enjoy the large variety of food available.

Travelling here is easy, the train, tram and bus routes all drop you off less than a 5 minute walk away from the park. There is also a car park for visitors travelling via car.

2. Magna Science Adventure Centre

As mentioned in Sunny Days, Magna Science Adventure Centre has both an indoor and outdoor experience. It is located on the outskirts of Rotherham 5 minutes away from Meadowhall Shopping Centre.

Focusing on the indoor side of the centre, Magna is both an enjoyable and educational day out. It has 4 pavilions to explore and learn about; earth, fire, air and water. The museum is jam packed full of games, interactive displays and other things to do, it can last as little or as long as you want it to!

Magna is not a free day out however when you buy a full price ticket for each member visiting, you have the option to upgrade this to a yearly pass for no extra cost meaning you can return as many times as you want throughout the year! Ticket prices are £11.95 for adults and range from £9.95 to free depending on the age of your concession. Tickets are also cheaper if bought online prior to your visit.

There is a free car park available or transport links including the bus, train and tram can all be used to get here. Picnics and packed lunches are also allowed making the day a little cheaper after the children finding the gift shop!

3. Sheffield Winter Gardens

Situated in the heart of Sheffield and located next the Peace Gardens stands the Winter Gardens. This indoor tropical paradise is perfect to spend some time having dinner in whilst your little ones explore.

This alone is not a full day out however it does get you out of the house for a few hours whilst you spend time in the museum and the gift shop after exploring the gardens. If the weather is any good you can also take a trip into the town centre which surrounds it.

4. Valley Centertainment

Located in the Don Valley area, Valley Centertainment is the ideal place to take your kids whilst the weather is not up to scratch. There are endless things to do, from the cinema to bowling and the amusements to mini golf.

Evidently there are costs associated with this activity, but it can be done on a budget. Why not spend time in the amusements on the 2p slots and have dinner at Burger King whilst taking advantage of the indoor play area?

Whatever your choice may be, there is something in this retail park for everyone. Parking is not limited, and the bus or tram can drop you off right outside the grounds. We would 100% recommend this!

5. Weston Park Museum

Weston Park Museum can be found one mile west of the city centre. The museum is the biggest in Sheffield and is perfect for an interactive day out.

You and your children can find out about the history of Sheffield and the best part is its free! From travelling through the sixties to learning about the steel that made the city famous, there is plenty to keep the kids entertained.

The cafe is perfect for a break from the madness and the gift shop can help you remember your day for years to come.

Parking can be quite difficult in this bustling area of the city, so the best option would be to catch the bus for a hassle free experience.
